I shot the following photos at the Huntington Library Cactus Garden on June 4, 2011 in San Morino, CA. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do. I love the interplay of light and shadow, smooth and rough.
Nature Inspires My Doll-making June 5, 2011
Welcome to my world of wonderful dolls! August 5, 2010
Welcome to my world of one of a kind (ooak) handmade art dolls inspired by nature. In addition to fabric and polymer clay, I even use natural objects like leaves, petals, and twigs. They are like a cross between fairies without wings and animal dolls. Your imagination makes them fly! You can buy my dolls at my Etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/graceworksstudio
Handmade One of a Kind Art Doll: Empress of Rabbits August 5, 2010
This dolls face is handmade of polymer clay. (No mold was used.) Her eyes are acrylic. Her hair is yarn. Her cloth outfit, body, hands and feet are machine-sewn and hand-stuffed. Trims used for decoration can include wire, feathers, beads, ribbon, buttons, and netting. Her hat is fabric, and her ears are real, naturally-dead magnolia petals. Her shoes are made by treating the fabric of her lower legs with gesso and painting the gesso. Everything about this little beauty is one-of-a-kind and all personally created by the artist: Karen Grace and she holds the copyright to any images of it. Thank you for visiting her today.
