These dolls range in size from 3 inches to 5 inches tall. They are fairy-sized in order to fit into seedpods that fall in the winter from some trees near my home. I’ve seen the pods on the ground for years, and have felt that there is SOMETHING that could be done with them. It wasn’t until I saw another doll artist creating little gnomes, and putting the cutely homely little men into the pods, that I felt inspired to put little women into the shells. My little gals are doing what women all over the world are doing–popping out of their shells! There are wonderfully magical things about females and about all aspects of nature. In these dolls I seek to synthesize those energies in a way so that anyone can have one to put on a shelf, or set atop a favorite book, and have as a reminder of the surprising aspects of us all. You never know when you might turn your head and see one of the nature-reminders peeking out at you!

None of my sculpted figures is truly a “doll” in that they are designed for display only and are made from polymer clay that has been found to be toxic if ingested. Not for use with children.
I seek to create dolls that mimic the old paper mache dolls of the past, so the “skin” will not be perfectly smooth.
